September 2018 - Standing by Women and #MeToo
Dear Friends,
Today, as I sit in an airport and write to you, I’m thinking of the ladies we are praying for this month. Again, I’m so thankful for your faithfulness to be a voice in prayer for women around the world.
On a recent visit to the Nordic countries, several people asked me about the “me too” movement. I am grateful that God is giving women more courage and opportunities to take a risk and reveal the disgraceful, unjust things they have endured. I remember many years of keeping silent myself about the violence and sexual abuse I experienced as a young woman. Since its beginning, TWR Women of Hope has stood up for mistreated and marginalized women, teaching that each one is loved and imbued with personal dignity by her creator. It’s a key reason why I’m thrilled to join with you in this ministry.
I’m thankful to the Lord who has given me a new life filled with his grace and mercy. Today, I tell my story believing it is only Jesus who heals our hearts and gives us the hope of heaven. I so desperately want more and more women to know this truth.
Pray with me this month for our sisters in Western and Southern Europe and the Nordic countries. Plead with God to give them a peace in their hearts to know that he has not forgotten them. Please pray for wisdom and strength as they persevere in difficult situations and circumstances believing that God is the God of redemption and hope.
Pray Psalm 103:2-5:
"Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits,
who forgives all your iniquity,
who heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit,
who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
who satisfies you with good
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s."
