Story of Hope || Fix our Gaze
“…let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2
We find rest when we fix our gaze on the one who never takes His eyes off of us. We may not know what the future holds, but we do know who holds the future. Isn’t that refreshing? Despite any circumstance or how out-of-order life may be, the Creator of the world cares about every detail of our life and will continue to hold and guide us. We can have peace in the chaos and joy in the uncertainty because his Spirit lives within us. So for the joy set before us, let us endure this season, keep our gaze on Jesus, and walk in peace.
Heavenly Father,
We thank you that you give us words to pray when we have none. We are grateful that you are beside us and go before us in every circumstance in our lives. So many uncertainties and unmet expectations lay before us in this time. But God, we know that in a time where the whole world is shaken, there is more margin for you to move in and change lives. We ask that you remind us of your awesome power today as we pray over the needs in our nation and the coronavirus that continues to spread.
We pray for Germany and the technical challenges they are facing while trying to produce radio programs that share the gospel. God help them to navigate their systems so that people may hear your Word and come to know you more. We are thankful for the technology we have in the world and for the skills and ability you have given to communicate with one another across the globe.
We pray for Mozambique and those there affected with the virus. We pray for the war that has broken out in the North Province where people cannot leave their homes in fear of their safety. God, bind a hedge of protection over their region and begin to move your peace into the hearts of their government and soldiers.
We pray for South Africa and the families who have lost jobs and businesses. Teach your people there to turn to you for provision and away from fear. You are the God of hope not of despair and so we place this trust in your hands.
Proverbs 4:25-26 says, “Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways.”
Father, you know our hearts and our current areas of pain and disappointment. Give us a fresh thirst for you today and help us to not grow weary in seeking your presence. Let us fix our gaze on you today Jesus, the perfecter of our faith. Open our hearts to allow you to lead us in this time.
In Jesus Name, Amen
