A Forever Worth Having
Always. Never. Forever.
These words carry enormous weight and are often used to express the intensity of our feelings. We may not even notice how often we use them in our daily life — or how we contradict ourselves when we do. We promise, “I’ll never complain again,” only to grumble a week later. We vow, “I’ll always be here for you,” but a conflict may break that bond. Life happens. Reality shifts. Some things change — sometimes permanently.
Some choices have that same power to alter the course of our lives for good, even beyond our days here. I watched a film that portrayed eternity in a curious way: after death, people were offered different “eternities” to choose from — life in the mountains, by the sea, on a farm or in a chaotic city. They had a whole week to make up their minds, but once chosen, the decision was final. To be honest, I would not be interested in living in any of those realities forever; those options mirrored earthly life too closely. None of the eternities presented a perfect, hopeful life.
I am so thankful that real life tells a different story— Christ has victory over death and he promises eternal life. An eternity in his presence, filled with peace, love and goodness. An eternity of singing his praises without end. That is the eternity I long for, and I would not trade it for anything else.
Christ is our living hope— the reason for each day here and the joy of our forever with him. As 1 Peter 1:3–4 declares: “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you.”
I hope you smile whenever you think of Christ, our living hope, who offers us the most extraordinary eternity.
Thank you for joining us in sharing this hope, so that women everywhere may have their lives transformed— forever and ever.
