Bible Verses to Anchor Your Heart in Difficult Times
Scriptures to Help You Trust God When the World Feels Heavy
We live in a world that has a front and center view of the brokenness that seems to be never ending. Conflict. Injustice. Loss. And then our own personal struggles are layered on top of global uncertainty. It is easy for our hearts to grow weary.
In difficult times, we don’t ignore reality — we anchor ourselves in something deeper.
We anchor ourselves in who God is.
Scripture reminds us that while circumstances change, God does not.
1. When You Need to Remember God Is All-Powerful
“Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.” — Jeremiah 32:17
The Creator of heaven and earth is not overwhelmed by what overwhelms us. Nothing in your life — or in this world — is too difficult for Him.
2. When You Feel Unseen or Overlooked
“Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.” — Psalm 139:4
God knows completely. Every fear. Every question. Every prayer you struggle to form. You are never invisible to him.
3. When the Future Feels Uncertain
"Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.” — Psalm 90:2
God is eternal. He existed before today’s crisis and will remain long after it passes. His reign is not threatened by unstable seasons. He is in control.
4. When Everything Around You Is Changing
“For I the Lord do not change…” — Malachi 3:6
In a culture of constant change, God’s character is steady. His promises are secure. His faithfulness does not fluctuate.
5. When You Need Refuge
“This God—his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.” — Psalm 18:30
He is not distant from suffering. He is a refuge within it, a safe place.
Maltbie Davenport Babcock writes in the classic hymn This Is My Father's World:
That though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the ruler yet.
This is my Father’s world:
why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is King; let the heavens ring!
God reigns; let the earth be glad!
He is eternal, infinite, immutable, trustworthy and perfect. He is omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient. Nothing is too small or too great for his hand.
And so we end not with fear — but with praise:
“Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power
and the glory and the majesty and the splendor,
for everything in heaven and earth is yours.
Yours, Lord, is the kingdom;
you are exalted as head over all.
Wealth and honor come from you;
you are the ruler of all things.
In your hands are strength and power
to exalt and give strength to all.
1 Chronicles 29:11-12
A Ministry Rooted in Hope
At TWR Women of Hope, this unshakable truth shapes everything we do. Our mission is to educate, encourage and equip women to learn, pray, listen, grow and give with us. Through media and discipleship, we reach women in hard-to-reach places around the world — including those who are isolated, suffering or spiritually searching.
Our vision is to bring hope and healing in Jesus to women around the world and across generations.
Because God does not change, we continue to proclaim his truth. Because he is sovereign, we continue to pray boldly. And because he is a refuge, we invite women everywhere to find shelter in him.
If this encouraged you, we invite you to join us in prayer for women around the world — and to be part of bringing gospel hope where it is needed most.
